This was a good book. I wish she would have talked more about the financial costs and was she given a choice to do all this surgery to save his life? There was no way he would ever be normal with the injuries he sustained. He was like a toddler. Why would anyone want to live like that? This story certainly brought on a conversation with my husband.

A wonderful book both about aging and about dealing with the unthinkable with courage and grace and thoughtfulness. We don't have enough books like this which can be models for all of us as we move through life. Highly recommended.

An inspiring and touching story. One of my favourite moments is found in pgs 130-131, truly amazing!

Coming from the same place as Abigail is, I found that I was visiting the past. An enlightening book.

This book looked interesting, but then I got scared to read it thinking it might be too depressing. It wasn't. She writes melodically, and weaves meaning into the way her life has turned out. Bravo!

Stephen King says this is the best memoir he's ever read. That caused me to give it a try and if it's not the best memoir I've read, it's very close. I loved Thomas' style; very intimate, sometimes funny, always poignant and thoughtful. She learns to cope after her husband is severely mentally challenged after a car accident. She eventually starts to enjoy life again with the help of writing and her three beloved dogs.
