Ok, the series started off a little boring for me, but I promise, they get better! I read these with my brother, and really enjoyed them! The first book is about a half-blood god (Percy) who finds out who he is and goes to a special camp and then he and his friends go on a quest. I liked it ok. The second book is much better, I have already read the greek myths and the Odessey, so these books were a lot of fun to go through! I am currently on the fifth, and love it! I love the personalities of Annabeth and Grover as they accompany Percy through the novels.
This book made me love reading again as it continues a great series that hasn't been disappointing. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves fiction as it's one that takes you through a wonderful journey.
This is the book that made me love reading! It is really for all ages and it is a fantastic story that will take you through a whirlwind of emotions(especially if you read the rest of the series and the Heroes of Olympus series)! Once you finish this book you will have no choice but to read the next book! It has an intriguing plot. Rick Riordan did such a good job creating a fantastical world inside the world that we live in. His take on the Greek gods and Greek mythology is hilarious and fun to read. I love this book and would give it 6 stars if I could!
I loooooooooooooooooove this series! this is my favorite book series and it will always be my favorite book series. i'll admit, I'm very picky so it's really hard to please me. this book didn't just please but it bought me to loooooooooooooooooooove books, which let me live in two different worlds at the same time! I am Rick Riordan's biggest fan. keep it up
This start of Percy's adventure is AMAZING! Once he realizes the greek gods, monsters, and everything else in it is real, he finds out he is the suspect of stealing something very important- Zeus's master bolt! In a 10 day adventure to retrieve the master bolt from Hades, a lot can happen! [This is also my favorite book!] I enjoyed it so much, and I think once you get into it, you can't stop reading! I love this book, and hopefully you will, too! This began my obession to this books series and It is my favorite thing right now! I love this book to start off the amazing series! (Also, if you read all 5 books of Percy Jackson and at least have 4/5 stars for every book, or not, I recommend reading the Heroes of Olympus, which is the sequel series after! :)
Yes, I too would think that this book is the best book because it has a lot of magical stuff in their that kids would want to read.
This series is a wonderful introduction in the rather complicated world of Greek mythology. The modern twist on all the myths, fables, and epics of the past is an almost untapped resource of entertainment.
This book was even better than the movie. I am only 11 years old and it was easy to read, so I think parents should have their kids read this. It will turn the most laziest of couch potatoes into fans of reading.
This is a great series for reluctant readers! The narrator is very snarky and relatable. If you enjoy books that are equal parts character-driven and plot-driven, give this a try! --Alexa Marie (for more of Alexa's reading suggestions, follow WoodneathAlexa in the catalog.)
I love this book as well as pretty much all of the other Rick Riordan books
This series has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. I didn't start reading these until I was 20 years old, even though book 1, The Lightning Thief, was released when I was in the 4th grade! Now I can't get enough of Rick Riordan books. These stories are timeless and can appeal to people of all ages. In the first series Riordan's main protagonist, Percy Jackson, discovers his father is an Ancient Greek god. He then finds himself at Camp Half-Blood, a place full of other demigod children. He then goes on many quests and adventures to try to prevent a prophecy and war between the gods. Riordan has also written two other series that branch off of the original, all involving some of the original main characters and storyline. Series #1)Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Series #2)Heroes of Olympus. Series #3)The Trials of Apollo.
white_dove_652 You need to take a chill pill. If you actually gave the series a chance you'd see that Annabeth is one of the most strong female characters out there, there are plenty of female characters that use swords, and the series is definitely not sexist. Maybe if you actually used your eyes and read and not just instantly started whining without checking your facts, you'd actually see that it's a good series that is diverse with its powerful characters (Annabeth fricken carries the sky and way longer than Percy did), POC, AND LGBTQ+.
Very good series! And the following one, Heroes of Olympus, is even better!! I recommend this to people who are looking for an action packed fantasy that has good bonding between all of its characters!! I give it a 5/5!
It is a page turner for sure. There is excitement in every chapter, and a close ending. My favorite god is Hades because he has a whole ARMY of dead soldiers from all of the wars. :o I'm excited for book 2.
if you're going to write another series or book, MAKE AT LEAST ONE OF THE GIRLS HAVE SWORDS. its really tiring to read about girls having daggers. plus why are there only boys on the cover????? super annoying. BOYS TO NOT RUN THIS WORLD!!!!!! girls are part of this.
Extremely entertaining and hard to put down! This book is packed with action and adventure (and humour) as half-blood Percy Jackson embarks on his first quest to find Zeus' missing master bolt. I would recommend this book to any young teens wanting a new and exciting read this summer.
I would say this is definitely still pretty fun and interesting. My reading this time was super disjointed (there's a gap because it was a library book) but it was still super fun to read, still very engaging, and a quick read that sucks you right in. The world is really great and I really want to read more of it!
This book has to be one of my top favorites. I read this for the first time years ago and I've ended up rereading it over and over. It's a very timeless book that opens up to an amazing series with lots of humor and imagination. A lot of children authors have a hard time attaining this level of realistic parallel to mythology without sounding cliché or overexaggerated but Riordan did it perfectly. Would recommend, 11/10.
I like the book Percy Jackson 1. It is creepy and fantasy like, even with creatures from the underworld. My favorite part was when Grover and his mother got attacked by a bull-man. You should get this book because it's a great mystery book and a thriller. - Lorenzo, age 11
I think the first book is boring but once you get to the second book you are litterly glued to the other books in the series.Once you read the first series (this is the first series) then read the second series,The Heros Of Olympus, and the third series The Trials Of Apollo. Then read the norse books (Magnus Chase). Then read the egypt books (The King Cronicles). And then you are set.
I loved this series! I think the first book is the best. Whoever is reading this, you will love this book and the rest of them!
