I feel I was engaged enough to want to find out who the murderer was. It was interesting to see a glimpse of life during this time period and to read through Georgie’s adventures of trying to survive. I got led astray by the many red…

Picked this out on a whim, I absolutely love it and can not wait to read the rest of the series! The main character is likable, the author worked hard to depict the times and characters accurately and it is such a happy read. It starts out…

Another enjoyable light mystery from Rhys Bowen. This one introduces a new clever female detective, minor royal Lady Genevieve. When a drowned body is found in the family's London townhome, she must find a way to clear her brother's name…

One in a series of mystery books built around a young woman. Likable main character. Quick read. Ending does not come out of no where like some writers. First book in the "Royal Spyness" series.

This book is a light read full of predictable plots and some less than period-accurate details. However, as a fun read between research books, it works. I enjoyed thinking about turn-of-the-century princes and princesses, as the recession…

I was looking for a light entertaining read to take up some time this summer. This book did not disappoint it was perfect for my intended purpose. It was funny in some places, frustrating in others, and enjoyable as a whole. The characters…

Review excerpt: "The allure of the story wasn’t the mystery so much as it was Georgie and her friends. I loved her ingenuity and her way of managing people and situations, her determination and her sense of humor, and especially her…

I really wanted to like this book, as I have really enjoyed other books by Rhys Bowen. However, similar to other readers, I found the book to be a little too light on plot (even for an easy read) and the characters without much depth.

I found this book to be amusing and light. Some have given it fewer stars because of the aforementioned "lightness", but I was looking for some brain candy and I found it.

This book should be filed and shelved in Teen Fiction, between The Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mystery series. Even the most ardent of Anglophiles would have a hard time with this one. A great grand-daughter of Queen Victoria becoming a scullery…

A fun story but somewhat repetitive. Georgie seems to be based on both Miss Fisher (but a poorer version of) and Stephanie Plum, which makes for fun and games.
The mystery, however, is very light, predictable and easily solvable long…
I adore this series by Rhys Bowen. It is funny and charming. An excellent beach book, characters developed just enough to keep you interested but not so detailed plots that you feel lost if you put it down for a day or two

A charming tale, told by a very skilled writer. The book is, arguably, a female version of P.G. Wodehouse, in that it features those upper-class British families so many of us are intrigued by, but in this case from the female point of…

A hilarious debut from an author that understands the upper crust durng the 1930s. Although it starts slow, the journey is worth it - Georgie's situation gets more and more dire and her solutions are more outrageous. Until it is all…
