I could not get through the whole thing. Yes, there's a lot of good insight for those clueless, but there's a lot of blaming on the healthcare providers as if they're the problems, not the payors. Almost as if the author is bitter about her career and wants to take down her peers.I could not get through the whole thing. A book about the good times in the past and the struggles of the present. A beautiful love story without any sugarcoating. I was glad to see the ending that there was an no other - made it for a REAL story.

Interesting read in the sense of the main character going and looking for trouble and then... somewhat avoiding it. The romantic aspect of this book definitely helped me along the way as I was curious as to how things would end.
However, I wish we would have read more about what happened with the kidnapped girl as this was a big reason for this story even existing. We just get her back and that's it.Interesting read in the sense of the main character going and looking for trouble and then... somewhat avoiding it. The weirdest book I've read in a while and not in a good way.
Potential spoilers:
The book begins with a certain judge being accused of multiple murders. I was hoping for some mystery along the way but there was never any doubt that that judge really was a killer. The book ended with the confirmation of the judge being at fault. All the book did was tell me how someone had gotten away with murders by being in the know and ensuring nothing got traced to them. No proof was really found throughout the book until the very end and that was small, too. This was all very confusing and not interesting at all.The weirdest book I've read in a while and not in a good way.

I chose this book because it sounded like a mystery. While it was that (missing women), it was also about two law enforcement employees, their lives, issues, and feelings toward one another. Actually, I feel like the book was more about them (and their faith) than the kidnapped women. While I am religious and don't mind the mention here and there, this book really went out of its way to highlight the Christian faith, which is great. I just don't think it's realistic (everyone is either very religious or becoming religious).I chose this book because it sounded like a mystery. I listened to this audiobook a chapter at a time, which I think slowed things down. It would have been more riveting if I read a physical book. It was a quick 'read.' Well-paced with nicely developed characters. It kept me wondering what would happen next. I wish the witch and her properties were included more in this. The book, to me, was more about the kids, than the witch, and since that is the title, I feel like she deserved more book time. The ending definitely left room for part 2.I listened to this audiobook a chapter at a time, which I think slowed things down. It would have been more riveting if I read a physical book. I loved the short chapters that were like snippets of the author's life. The humor definitely helped lighten the mood since the topic is quite heavy. I wish there was more 'meat' to this. Generally speaking, the book was quite interesting. A woman goes missing, her sister tries to find her, and a story about their past and present family unfolds. For the most part, the pace is good. Finding the woman stirs a lot of stuff up that is less than pleasant. We're invested in the characters. However, the closer to the end we get, the more rushed the book felt to me. An explanation was crammed down my throat just to wrap things up. Good beginning, decent middle, crappy ending.Generally speaking, the book was quite interesting. Just as good as when I read it when I was a kid. While I thought there was more kid's 1st crush stuff in there, the whole story flowed perfectly. There's so much strength, courage, and love in this tale. Great lessons and a fantastic journey. A classic.

I have to admit that I did not finish it. It wasn't bad and I might pick it up at a later time but I feel like this is very appropriate for middle grade. It just feels childish a bit. When I held the book in my hands for the first time, I noted that it was thinner than I expected it to be. I hoped that meant that the author just got to the point right away and there would be no slow pace in this read. Oh, how wrong I was.
The first half to 3/4 of the book is oh so boring. I could shorten it to just a few pages.
When it picks up, it feels like it has the potential but it never really takes off.

A book about the adventures of a girl wanting to do boy things - what is there not to like? Yes, some things are quite a cliche, but still interesting and rewarding to read. Great set-up for the next book.

I hated the beginning - it's there to just throw you off and does not come into play until the very end of the book and in a rather small way. A cheap gimmick to grab a reader's attention.
The title is somewhat misleading, too.
There were some typos, so it could have used another round of editing.
All of that aside, the plot is suspenseful, making you believe you know what's going on and who's pulling the strings until it is proven that you were wrong. Character creation is well done, too.I hated the beginning - it's there to just throw you off and does not come into play until the very end of the book and in a rather small way. This was a page-turner. I wanted to know what really happened and I could not turn the pages fast enough. The writer drops all sorts of hints throughout (or at I just thought I found clues that weren't clues...), but they might lead you astray. I had a few theories by the end of the book and was eager to find out the truth.
The ending was a letdown. It was a lengthy narration meant to explain the entire book. Really? You set up the book so elegantly to then just spoon-feed us all that? I had a suspicion that ending might be the truth, but c'mon, I don't think it's 100% believable. At least not for me.This was a page-turner. I watched the TV show before reading this book. I've been told that the book is better than the show and I absolutely agree. If you watched the show and are wondering if you will find the book interesting, do not worry - the show was based on the book but the book has different plots.
A great concept for a book and it read very well. I could not wait to see how each character would end up.
I wonder if there will be book no.2. The way things ended, it gave your imagination room to roam free, but it could also mean that most of the book (if not all) was not true.
